Nollywood actress and producer Ini Edo has extended a heartfelt apology to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the broader Christian community following concerns raised about the title of her latest film, *A Very Dirty Christmas*.
In an emotional Instagram Live session, Ms. Edo expressed deep regret, stating: “If I had known the title *A Very Dirty Christmas* would cause a problem, I would have changed it. CAN, I am sorry. I never meant to insult or disgrace Christians. I am a Christian too.”
The film, directed by Akay Mason and released in cinemas nationwide on December 16, 2025, has sparked dialogue due to its provocative title. While the story explores complex human experiences during the festive season, Ms. Edo emphasized that there was no intention to demean, ridicule, or dishonor Christianity or the sacred essence of Christmas.
As a devout Christian whose faith guides her personal and professional life, Ms. Edo reiterated her commitment to values of respect and sensitivity. She acknowledged the important role faith plays in Nigerian society and expressed willingness to address the concerns, including ongoing efforts to consider modifications to the title.
“I respect the concerns raised by CAN and the Christian community,” Ms. Edo said. “My aim has always been to create thoughtful storytelling that reflects real-life contrasts, not to offend. I invite everyone to watch the film and experience its message in full context.”
Ms. Edo thanked her fans, colleagues, and supporters for their understanding during this time and reaffirmed her dedication to producing meaningful content that uplifts and unites.
