“Tinubu does not have the answers” — Verydarkman slams president over insecurity crisis

Social media critic Verydarkman has strongly criticised President Bola Tinubu over the country’s worsening insecurity situation.

In a video shared online, VeryDarkMan expressed frustration over recent comments made by the president while addressing security concerns.

According to him, Nigerians expected direct answers and concrete solutions regarding kidnappings, violence, and attacks affecting communities across the country.

The activist claimed the president failed to adequately address the issue and instead spoke about religious references, which he argued did not provide reassurance to citizens facing insecurity. He further stated that the government appears overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis.

Verydarkman also warned about the growing threat posed by armed groups and called for stronger leadership and urgent action to protect lives and restore public confidence in national security.

His words …

“The commander in chief of the armed forces was asked about the insecurity issues that have gone further to claim lives, chase people out of their homes, school children and teachers as hostages to bandits…..the president was asked about insecurity unfortunately he couldn’t give and answer instead he started talking about holy books and how Abraham took Isaac to the bush to sacrifice……BOLA AHMED TINUBU DOES NOT HAVE THE ANSWERS,HE SHOULD STEP DOWN BEFORE BOKO HARAM AND OTHER T34rrorzt group finish us all”

“National Shame” — Peter Obi slams insecurity in schools on children’s day

Nigeria’s former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the continued abduction of schoolchildren across the country, describing the situation as a national tragedy and a sign of collapsing school safety.

In a strongly worded statement marking the celebration of Children’s Day, Obi said his thoughts remain heavy despite the occasion meant to honour Nigerian children.

He lamented that several schoolchildren have spent years in captivity, while their images continue to circulate on social media, reflecting unresolved insecurity.

Rising insecurity in schools and prolonged captivity crisis

Obi condemned the repeated attacks on schools and the inability of authorities to secure the safety of learners, warning that the trend has created fear among parents, teachers, and students nationwide.

He stressed that  education cannot thrive in an environment where children are no longer safe within school premises.

According to him, the prolonged captivity of abducted children represents a national shame and a painful reminder of the country’s security challenges.

He noted that many  families continue to live in anguish, waiting for news of their missing children without closure.Family

He further argued that a country unable to protect its children from criminal groups risks losing global respect and moral credibility.

He described the situation as unacceptable and urged urgent action to restore safety in schools.Education

Obi added that while Children’s Day should be a moment of joy and reflection, it has instead become a reminder of unfinished responsibilities toward protecting the nation’s youngest citizens.

Fenerbahce intensify move for Supper Eagles defender Bassey

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have stepped up efforts to sign Nigeria international Calvin Bassey from Fulham during the summer transfer window.

The Super Eagles defender has emerged as one of the club’s priority targets as Fenerbahce look to strengthen their squad following another disappointing domestic campaign.

Fenerbahce president set for transfer talks

According to reports in Turkey, Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim is expected to travel to London to open discussions over a possible deal for the 25-year-old centre-back.

The Istanbul club are aiming to rebuild after extending their Turkish Super Lig title drought to 13 years, with rivals Galatasaray continuing to dominate domestically.

Bassey is understood to be highly regarded by Fenerbahce’s recruitment team following his consistent performances in the Premier League with Fulham.

The Nigerian defender joined Fulham from Ajax in 2023 for a reported €22.5 million fee and has since become one of the club’s most reliable defensive players.

Bassey’s stock rises after strong Fulham spell

Since arriving at Craven Cottage, Bassey has made more than 100 appearances for Fulham, contributing four goals and one assist while establishing himself as a regular starter.

His physicality, pace and defensive awareness have earned praise in England, with many observers previously linking him with moves to bigger clubs across Europe’s top leagues.

Fenerbahce are reportedly confident they can afford a deal, with Bassey valued at around €28 million.

The defender’s contract situation could also influence negotiations, as he is believed to have just one year remaining on his current agreement with Fulham.

Super Eagles star could face major decision

Bassey’s relatively modest wages (€29,000 weekly) compared to top Premier League earners may also make a move financially attractive if Fenerbahce present an improved package.

Kylian Mbappe named Real Madrid Player of the Season again

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been named the club’s Player of the Season for the second consecutive campaign after another prolific year in Spain.

The France captain retained the individual honour following an impressive 2025-26 season in which he established himself as Real Madrid’s leading attacking figure despite the club’s wider struggles across competitions.

Mbappe dominates scoring charts

Mbappe finished as La Liga’s top scorer with 25 goals and also ended the UEFA Champions League campaign as the competition’s leading scorer after netting 15 times.

Across all competitions, the 27-year-old registered 42 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances, directly contributing to 49 goals during the season.

His performances further strengthened his status as one of world football’s most decisive forwards since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain.

Individual brilliance amid team struggles

Mbappe’s personal success came during a difficult period for Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants enduring back-to-back underwhelming campaigns collectively.

While the club struggled to meet expectations domestically and in Europe, Mbappe remained one of the few consistent performers in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

The French forward is now expected to shift focus to international duty after being selected by France manager Didier Deschamps for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

France star eyes more World Cup history

Mbappe already won the World Cup with France in 2018 and will head into the upcoming tournament aiming to add a second title to his career achievements.

He is also closing in on another major milestone, sitting four goals away from becoming the competition’s all-time leading scorer.

Eric Chelle learns key lessons from Zimbabwe victory

The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup semi-final, but for head coach Eric Chelle, the match provided more than just a place in the final.

The encounter at The Valley Stadium gave the Super Eagles boss an opportunity to assess several new players and tactical ideas ahead of future competitions, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Attack shows promise

Nigeria’s attacking performance was one of the biggest positives from the match, particularly the performance of debutant Femi Azeez.

The forward scored twice on his first appearance for the Super Eagles and immediately offered pace, directness and movement in the final third.

Despite praising the winger’s goals, Chelle admitted he still expected more from the player technically.

“He scored two goals, congratulations to him, but also lost a lot of balls technically, so I’m not happy,” Chelle said.

“He won the ball back many times, sometimes he didn’t recover the ball, so I’m not happy. But for the first time, we can say, ‘Azeez, congratulations.’”

Midfield balance still developing

Nigeria’s midfield trio of Tochukwu Nnadi, Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani delivered a disciplined display, helping the team control possession for long periods.

The midfielders also pressed aggressively after losing the ball, limiting Zimbabwe’s opportunities to attack through central areas.

However, the game also exposed a lack of creativity from deeper positions, with Nigeria relying heavily on wing play and direct attacking transitions.

Defensive stability encourages Chelle

At the back, Nigeria produced one of their most organised defensive performances in recent outings.

The central defensive partnership of Chibuike Nwaiwu and Igoh Ogbu remained composed throughout, while debutant goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo impressed with his calmness and shot-stopping ability.

Okonkwo’s confidence provided further evidence that the Super Eagles may finally be developing stronger depth in goal and defence beyond the regular starters.

Overall, the Zimbabwe victory offered Chelle valuable insight into several emerging players as Nigeria continue building towards future international competitions.

Tyla Wins Two Major Awards at American Music Awards

Tyla, a South African artist, emerged as one of the greatest winners at the 52nd American Music Awards in Las Vegas, taking home two major honors.

The 24-year-old sensation won the Best Afrobeats Artist category, defeating top African performers such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, and MOLIY.

Tyla also won the Social Song of the Year award for her hit song CHANEL, making her the only African artist to receive an award at this year’s event, which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and hosted by Queen Latifah.

The singer went into the night as the most nominated African act in American Music Awards history, with four nods, including Best Female R&B Artist and Best Music Video.

Released in 2025, “CHANEL” was a huge global success, racking up millions of streams and solidifying Tyla’s burgeoning dominance in the international music industry.

In 6 years, I spent N340 million on weed – Ice Prince

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the artiste disclosed that between 2020 and 2026, he spent about ₦340 million on weed from a single dealer alone.

He added that the figure did not include purchases from other suppliers located in places such as Abuja, Jos, Ghana, and London.

According to Ice Prince, he eventually stopped smoking and drinking alcohol during a period of personal transformation, weight loss, and self-discovery.

“From 2020 to 2026, I have spent N340 million on weed from just one dealer alone, not to even mention my other dealers from Abuja, Ghana, Jos, and London. This is just one dealer, who lives close to me in Lagos,” he stated.

He explained that the decision was part of efforts to improve his lifestyle and overall wellbeing.

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has reportedly received a brand-new luxury car gift, sparking widespread reactions online after the unexpected gesture.

According to reports circulating on social media, the light-skinned movie star was gifted a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon by an anonymous man from the East, allegedly a governor, who expressed admiration for her lifestyle and influence.

While presenting the car, the unidentified man was heard praising her and explaining why he decided to upgrade her previous vehicle.

“I just started seeing the kidnapping that happened in Oyo just yesterday. It was Spyro’s post that came up,” she said.

Bam Bam breaks down in tears over widespread national insecurity

In a reflective public statement and video, she described a growing sense of emotional exhaustion within society, pointing to repeated cases of kidnapping, loss of lives, serious illnesses, and widespread fear as issues contributing to collective distress.

She questioned the effectiveness of current systems in addressing these challenges, especially in relation to public safety and healthcare delivery, while emphasizing the need for stronger institutional response and accountability.

In the video she shared, she was seen in tears over the repeated tragedy facing Nigerians.

Her words read …

“What’s the SOLUTION?!!! What’s the solution, people?

We’ve cried. We’ve made flyers. We’ve wailed. We’ve prayed. Yet the pain keeps coming. 💔

Kidnappings. Loss. Cancer. Grief. Fear.

It feels like we’re all just trying to survive one tragedy after another.

And honestly… where is the government in all of this?

How many more people need to go missing?

How many more families need to mourn before safety, healthcare, and human lives are treated like a priority?

Today it’s someone else’s loved one… tomorrow it could be ours.

Please check on your people. Call them. Love them loudly. Be kinder. Be softer with people. You truly never know what someone is carrying.

And cancer… cancer is a bastard.

It has taken two people I deeply care about, and I’m honestly tired of pretending we have time. We don’t always.

Please do regular health checkups.

Please listen to your body.

Please take your health seriously.

Please don’t wait till it’s too late.

We deserve better.

Better security. Better healthcare. Better leadership. Better humanity. ❤️🕊️”

“I became an excellent father but a woeful husband” – Jim Iyke opens up on failed marriage

Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has opened up about the emotional struggles that led to the end of his marriage, revealing that he lost his spark in life and became overly devoted to fatherhood.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, he disclosed that he became fully consumed by fatherhood during a difficult period in his life, admitting that his wife suffered because of the emotional changes he was going through.

“I lost my spark, and my wife suffered for it. And then I became an obsessive dad. I gave everything in me to my son. I was a proper stay-at-home dad,” he said.

Jim Iyke revealed that he eventually became a better father than husband, explaining that the situation affected his relationship after his wife could no longer recognise the man she married.

The veteran actor said he was honest with his wife about his emotional struggles and told her he was unsure how long it would take him to heal and become himself again.

“I became an excellent father but a woeful husband. After a while, she said, ‘I can’t find the man I married anymore.’ I told her, ‘I don’t know what it’d take for me to heal and bring myself back.

If you want to wait for me, I’d appreciate it. And if you can’t, I would understand.’ She said she couldn’t, so we shook hands and parted as friends,” he added.

My dad is one of the reasons Nigeria has democracy – Kiddwaya

Reality TV personality Kiddwaya has shared personal reflections about his father’s influence and his family’s alleged role in Nigeria’s political history.

Speaking in an interview, Kiddwaya described Banana Island in Lagos as one of the most expensive and luxurious real estate locations in Africa, adding that he only learned about parts of his father’s involvement in its recognition after a media interview.

He also spoke about his father’s humble nature, noting that he does not publicly boast about his achievements but is open when asked about them.

Kiddwaya further recounted a story he said he recently learned, claiming his father had close ties with military leadership during Nigeria’s period of military rule.

According to him, after the death of former Head of State Sani Abacha, a close associate of his father allegedly assumed leadership and later sought his advice on transitioning the country to civilian rule.

He claimed his father advised that Nigeria should return to democratic governance, allowing citizens to vote for their leaders, a development he believes contributed to the country’s current democratic system.

“Banana Island is the most expensive, luxurious piece of land in Africa. It’s quite small, on the island in Lagos, I never knew he discovered it until he made that statement on BBC. My dad is very like that. He doesn’t blow his own trumpet. When you ask him, he will tell you.

And I have another fascinating story that I just found out. He hasn’t told anybody. I didn’t know that my dad was one of the reasons that Nigeria had a democracy. He was very close with the Army back in the day when we had military rule.

When Sani Abacha died, my dad’s close friend was the second in command, so his friend became president. So he came to the house, I wasn’t born then, he came to the house and said look, Terry, I’m president now, I don’t really know what to do, what should we do. And he said, give it to democracy. Like make it a democracy so the people can vote.

When he told me that, I was like, dad you should tell people this. He is one of the reasons Nigeria has a democracy…” he said.

“Tinubu is pampering me” — Cubana Chief Priest opens up on political support, governorship ambition

Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has stirred reactions online after revealing the level of support and attention he currently enjoys from political associates and influential figures across the country.

Speaking during a trending interview, the celebrity barman said several politicians have continued to stand by him despite criticisms and controversies surrounding his growing involvement in politics.

According to him, some party leaders openly “pamper” him because of his loyalty, influence among young Nigerians, and ability to connect with people.

“They bought me a brand new lexus”
Cubana Chief Priest disclosed that one of his political associates recently reminded him of the expensive gifts and support he had received over time.

“Man of the parties is pampering me. They are like, oh, CP, he accommodates you, so it’s working in my favor. One of my chairmen called me today and said, ‘CP, are you okay?’ I told him I’m trying. He said no worry. He reminded me that he bought a brand new Lexus LX 700h for me. He said, ‘You’re my honorable for life,’” he said.

The nightlife entrepreneur added that despite the support he receives, there are still doubts about his political loyalty in some quarters.

“Maybe God wants me to be Governor”
According to him, critics trolling him online cannot discourage his ambitions or confidence.

Cubana Chief Priest also claimed that some persons close to President Bola Tinubu allegedly still do not fully trust him because he is Igbo and once worked for Peter Obi during the 2023 election season.

Arsenal crowned Premier League champions after Man City stumble at Bournemouth

Arsenal FC have officially won the Premier League title after Manchester City were held to a draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result ends Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the league crown and confirms Mikel Arteta has delivered the club’s first Premier League triumph since the famous Invincibles era.

City’s dropped points leave Arsenal four clear at the top heading into the final round of fixtures, with the Gunners now set to lift the trophy following their trip to Crystal Palace FC on Sunday.

Bournemouth frustrate Guardiola’s side

The match was dominated by speculation surrounding the future of City manager Pep Guardiola, amid reports suggesting he could leave the club at the end of the season.

While Guardiola insisted the rumours had no effect on his players, Bournemouth produced one of their strongest performances of the campaign to frustrate the defending champions.

Teenage forward Junior Kroupi gave the hosts the lead before half-time with a composed curling finish after Bournemouth repeatedly exposed City defensively.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic also delivered a crucial second-half save to deny Nico O’Reilly as the hosts protected their advantage.

Haaland strike not enough for City

Erling Haaland eventually rescued a point for City with a late equaliser, but Bournemouth held firm to secure a famous result.

The draw also guarantees European football for Bournemouth next season in what will be the final campaign under manager Andoni Iraola, who has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.

Arteta finally delivers long-awaited title

For Arsenal, the result completes a remarkable rise under Arteta after several near-misses in recent seasons.

The North London club have combined attacking consistency with defensive discipline throughout the campaign and now enter the final weekend as deserved champions of English football.

Chelsea push Tottenham closer to relegation trouble after Stamford Bridge defeat

Chelsea kept their European qualification hopes alive and pushed Tottenham Hotspur deeper into relegation danger with a dramatic 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos secured the win for Chelsea, while Tottenham’s survival fight now heads into the final day of the Premier League season.

The defeat extended Spurs’ miserable record at Stamford Bridge, where they have won just once in 41 league visits.

Chelsea stay alive in European race

Despite recent struggles, including defeat in the FA Cup final, Chelsea produced one of their more composed performances under interim boss Calum McFarlane.

The result keeps the Blues mathematically alive in the race for European football ahead of incoming manager Xabi Alonso taking charge this summer.

Chelsea started nervously, with Tottenham threatening early through Mathys Tel and Jorrel Hato.

However, Fernandez broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a powerful long-range strike that beat goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The Argentine midfielder nearly doubled the advantage later in the half when his free-kick crashed against the crossbar.

Santos goal leaves Spurs in danger

Tottenham improved little after the break and were punished again in the second half.

A misplaced pass from Randal Kolo Muani allowed Cole Palmer to launch a quick attack before Pedro Neto provided the assist for Santos to calmly finish.

The second goal looked to have ended Spurs’ resistance before substitute Richarlison pulled one back late on after a fortunate deflection from Pape Sarr.

Tottenham pushed forward desperately in the closing stages, with James Maddison going close to an equaliser, but Chelsea held firm.

Final-day survival battle awaits Tottenham

The result means Tottenham’s relegation battle will now be decided on the final day of the campaign.

West Ham United remain within touching distance despite their recent poor form, leaving Spurs needing a positive result against Everton to secure survival.

“How can you send a child to prison for two years over few Twitter lines?” — Sowore blasts Adekunle Gold

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised singer Adekunle Gold over the reported imprisonment of a social media user accused of making false claims online about the musician and his family.

Speaking during an interview that has gone viral on social media, Sowore questioned why Adekunle Gold and his wife, singer Simi, pursued legal action that resulted in a young man spending over two years in prison over comments made on X, formerly Twitter.

“That’s not how to handle false stories”

Sowore argued that public figures should learn to ignore false rumours rather than using law enforcement to punish critics or online commentators.

“How dare Adekunle Gold, after getting some little money and fame, send somebody to jail for two years for writing something we all know is not true? Yesterday people were calling me that my wife and children had died in the US. I simply called them to confirm they were alive and moved on,” he said.

The activist also referenced past incidents involving public figures, including former US President Donald Trump’s family and a Kaduna-based religious leader declared dead during the COVID-19 period.

“Nigerians love oppression too much”

According to Sowore, the situation reflects a growing culture of oppression among influential Nigerians.

“How can you sit down with police and prosecutors to jail someone for two and a half years because of three lines on Twitter? Nigerians complain about oppression until they get small power, then they become worse,” he added.

The controversy comes amid increasing debates in Nigeria over cybercrime laws, online speech, and the arrest of social media users for controversial posts.

The victory confirmed Celtic’s fifth consecutive league title after overturning a deficit in a final-day contest that had kept supporters on edge until the closing minutes.

Hearts, who had led the table for much of the season, needed at least a draw to claim a first league crown since 1960 but collapsed late on as Celtic produced a decisive late surge.

Late turnaround seals title

Hearts opened the scoring through Lawrence Shankland after a first-half corner, placing them within touching distance of a historic triumph.

Celtic responded deep into first-half stoppage time when Arne Engels converted from the penalty spot after a handball incident in the box.

The decisive breakthrough came late in the match when Daizen Maeda restored Celtic’s lead in the 87th minute following a VAR intervention that overturned an earlier offside decision.

Callum Osmand then added a stoppage-time third as Hearts committed players forward in search of an equaliser, sealing the result and the title for Celtic.

Iheanacho involvement in decisive moment

Iheanacho, who came off the bench, played a key role in maintaining Celtic’s attacking pressure during the closing stages and was unlucky not to score after striking the post.

His introduction added pace and directness as Celtic pushed for a winner, with the team eventually capitalising on Hearts’ late defensive collapse.

Celtic extend domestic dominance

The result sees Celtic move ahead of Rangers in total league titles, reaching 56 championships in Scottish football history.

Interim manager Martin O’Neill guided the side through the decisive run-in, securing another league success in what could be his final spell in charge.

For Hearts, the defeat ends a strong campaign in disappointment after they spent most of the season at the top of the table before faltering at the final hurdle.

Manchester City edge Chelsea to lift FA Cup at Wembley

Manchester City defeated Chelsea to win the FA Cup after Antoine Semenyo scored the decisive goal in a tense final at Wembley Stadium.

The match appeared destined for extra time before Semenyo produced a moment of quality in the closing stages to hand City another major trophy under Pep Guardiola.

Semenyo strike decides final

After a cagey contest with few clear opportunities, City finally broke through with 16 minutes remaining.

Erling Haaland delivered a cross into the penalty area and Semenyo met it first time with a clever right-foot finish that beat Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez.

The goal proved enough to settle the final and complete another successful domestic campaign for City.

Haaland endured a frustrating afternoon in front of goal but played a key role in the winning moment after working tirelessly throughout the match.

City add another trophy

The victory means Manchester City have now completed a domestic cup double after previously winning the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

It also ended a run of consecutive FA Cup final defeats following losses to Manchester United and Crystal Palace in recent years.

Guardiola’s side remain in contention for further silverware as they continue battling in the Premier League title race.

Chelsea’s Wembley struggles continue

For Chelsea, the defeat extended a painful record at Wembley after losing a fourth straight FA Cup final.

The London side struggled to create sustained attacking pressure and ultimately finished the season without a trophy despite reaching another major final.

Interim manager Calum McFarlane now faces fresh uncertainty over the club’s direction ahead of the summer, with Chelsea still searching for a permanent manager for next season.

Mohamed Salah calls for Liverpool return to ‘heavy metal’ football

Mohamed Salah has urged Liverpool to rediscover the aggressive attacking identity that defined the club under former manager Jürgen Klopp following another damaging defeat in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s 4-2 loss to Aston Villa left their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League under serious threat and increased pressure on current head coach Arne Slot.

Salah, who will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, described the performance as unacceptable and insisted the club must return to a style opponents fear.

Salah questions Liverpool identity

The Egyptian forward appeared to criticise the tactical direction under Slot while reflecting on the standards established during Klopp’s reign at Anfield.

“I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies,” Salah said on social media.

“That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.”

Salah added that Liverpool’s latest collapse was painful for supporters after a season that has fallen below expectations.

“Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve,” he said.

Pressure grows on Slot

Liverpool’s defeat to Villa marked the club’s 19th loss in all competitions this season, increasing frustration among supporters despite Slot guiding the team to the Premier League title in his first campaign.

The Dutch manager acknowledged the squad requires significant improvement and suggested injuries had severely impacted performances.

“If you miss nine players that can start a game of football, then that will automatically lead to much more,” Slot said.

He also hinted that the upcoming transfer window would be crucial in reshaping the squad ahead of next season.

Emotional farewell approaching

Salah is preparing for his final appearance at Anfield after nine years at Liverpool, where he has won multiple major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.

The 33-year-old has scored 257 goals for the club and remains one of the most successful players in Liverpool’s modern history.
