Seemah Mangolwane Issues Public Apology to DJ Zinhle Over “Dog” Remark About Mörda

South African influencer and reality TV personality Seemah Mangolwane has issued a formal public apology to music icon DJ Zinhle following a controversial social media comment in which she referred to DJ Zinhle’s husband, producer Bongani “Mörda” Mahosana, as a “dog.”

The remark, made during a heated exchange on X (formerly Twitter) on November 14, 2025, stemmed from a discussion about co-parenting and public relationships. The post quickly went viral, sparking intense backlash from fans of both DJ Zinhle and Mörda, who have been celebrated as one of Africa’s power couples since tying the knot in a private ceremony earlier this year.

In a statement released via her verified Instagram and X accounts early this morning, Mangolwane expressed deep remorse:

“I sincerely and unreservedly apologize to DJ Zinhle, Mörda, and their beautiful family for my reckless and hurtful comment. Calling Mörda a ‘dog’ was disrespectful, immature, and beneath the values I stand for. There is no excuse for such language, especially toward a man who is a devoted father, husband, and artist.I allowed emotion to cloud my judgment, and I deeply regret the pain and division my words have caused. DJ Zinhle has always been a role model to me and many young women in South Africa. She didn’t deserve this.I am committed to doing better — in my words, actions, and how I engage online. I have reached out privately to DJ Zinhle and Mörda to make amends and hope they can accept this apology in the spirit it is given.”

Mangolwane also announced she will be deactivating her X account for 30 days to reflect and undergo digital wellness coaching, adding:

“Social media should build us up, not tear each other down. I’m taking this time to grow.”

DJ Zinhle has not yet responded publicly, but sources close to the Umlilo hitmaker say she is focused on family and her upcoming ERA by DJ Zinhle jewelry collection launch at Entertainment Week Africa 2025 in Lagos.

The incident has reignited conversations about accountability, mental health, and the responsibilities of influencers in Africa’s digital space.
