“I Have the Video Evidence and Confession of How Mohbad Was Killed” – Nollywood Actor Yomi Fabiyi Breaks Silence, Urges President Tinubu to Intervene in Singer’s Murder Case

In a shocking revelation that has reignited national outrage over the unsolved death of Afrobeats sensation Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, Nollywood actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has publicly declared possession of a disturbing video clip purportedly capturing the final moments leading to the singer’s tragic demise in September 2023.

The 42-year-old thespian, renowned for his roles in blockbuster films and his relentless advocacy for justice in high-profile cases, made the explosive disclosure in a viral video message directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Fabiyi claims the footage, which he describes as “irrefutable murder evidence and a direct confession,” was sent to him by Mohbad’s younger brother, Adura Aloba (also known as Hadurah), in a brazen attempt to extort N3 million from him shortly after the singer’s passing.

“I am putting my life on the line to ensure justice is served. This video proves exactly what happened to our brother Imole [Mohbad]. It shows the violence, the betrayal, and the cover-up. They tried to silence him in life, and now they’re trying to bury the truth in death. No more!” Fabiyi stated emphatically in the three-minute clip, which has garnered over 2 million views across social media platforms within 24 hours.

According to Fabiyi, the video depicts a heated altercation where Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba (Wunmi), allegedly pushed the singer during an argument, causing him to strike his head fatally on the floor. The actor further alleges that the clip implicates other family members and associates in a conspiracy to conceal the incident, including efforts to tamper with evidence and intimidate witnesses. “This isn’t speculation; it’s raw footage from inside the home. Adura sent it to me thinking he could profit from his brother’s blood money. Instead, he handed me the key to unlocking the truth,” Fabiyi revealed, while sharing redacted screenshots of WhatsApp conversations with Adura as corroborating proof.

Fabiyi’s intervention comes amid mounting frustration over the stalled investigation into Mohbad’s death, which initially sparked global protests under the #JusticeForMohbad banner. The singer, aged 27 at the time of his passing, succumbed to what was officially termed “natural causes” following a brief altercation at his residence, but autopsy results and public scrutiny pointed to foul play involving assault, possible poisoning, and negligence by medical personnel.

In May 2025, Fabiyi penned a formal petition to President Tinubu, alerting the presidency to the video’s existence and demanding a thorough probe. This led to a directive from the President’s office to the Inspector General of Police, resulting in the case’s transfer to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja. Sources close to the investigation confirm that several suspects—including Wunmi, who reportedly turned herself in for questioning—were detained and grilled on charges ranging from murder and conspiracy to criminal intimidation and theft of the singer’s assets.

“Key suspects have been identified and charged, but now there are petitions flying around to discredit me and bury the case. They’re using my loyalty to your administration against you, Mr. President—they want to weaponize this in the next election. I beg you, intervene now before the truth is erased forever,” Fabiyi pleaded in his video, expressing fears for his personal safety amid alleged threats from those implicated.

The actor’s claims have polarized public opinion, with supporters hailing him as a “fearless crusader” and critics accusing him of sensationalism for political gain. Prominent voices in the entertainment industry have weighed in:

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN): “If this evidence is genuine, it demands immediate forensic verification and prosecution. No one, not even family, is above the law in a democracy.”

Singer Iyanya: “Yomi is putting everything on the line. #JusticeForMohbad can’t die—let’s amplify this!”

Activist Segun Awosanya (@segalink): “Credible intel like this must be secured and independently examined. The FCID owes the nation transparency.”

Fabiyi, who previously led street protests and crowdfunding efforts for Mohbad’s autopsy, paused his advocacy to support convicted actor Olanrewaju James (Baba Ijesha) but has now recommitted fully to the cause. He announced plans for a press conference next week to present the full, unredacted chats and potentially the video under secure conditions, while calling on the public to pressure authorities via #ReleaseMohbadVideo and #TinubuActNow.

As Nigeria grapples with broader issues of insecurity and institutional distrust, Fabiyi’s bold stand serves as a stark reminder that celebrity deaths like Mohbad’s—marked by fan riots, album chart-toppers posthumously, and a coroner’s inquest still pending—expose deep fissures in the justice system. The nation awaits President Tinubu’s response, with many hoping this could finally deliver closure to a grieving fanbase and family.
