Rumor: Regina Daniels’ family set to return daughters bride price

The Family members of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, to accept the bride price paid for the marriage or face a traditional declaration that the union has ended.

The demand was contained in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, accusing the senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate members of Regina’s family.

According to the kinsmen, their tradition gives any woman the right to exit a marriage, provided the family returns the bride price.

They claimed that several attempts to return the payment had been rejected by Nwoko, insisting that if he refuses again, the money would be publicly dropped at Ikeleke Quarter, a symbolic act that marks the end of the marriage under Ogwashi-Uku custom.

The letter also condemned the alleged arrest of Regina’s siblings, calling it an act of oppression.

It noted that Regina’s family is demanding the immediate release of those detained.

This development follows Regina Daniels’ recent allegation that the senator ordered the arrest of her brother and sister after she declined to return to him. The couple, who married in 2019, share two children.

Rashford on target following Barcelona win over Elche

Marcus Rashford was on target as Barcelona bounced back from their El Clasico defeat with a 3-1 victory over Elche at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc.

Hansi Flick’s side made their intentions clear early on, taking control of the game from the first whistle. On nine minutes, Lamine Yamal broke the deadlock scoring a composed finish inside the area after a neat pass from Alejandro Balde.

Barcelona regained a comfortable lead in the 60th minute when Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, unleashed a thunderous strike that rattled in off the woodwork.

Manager Flick introduced Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski late on, marking their return from injury. Elche pressed in the closing stages, with Mir striking the crossbar, but Barcelona held firm to secure all three points.

The victory lifts Barcelona back to second place in La Liga, five points adrift of leaders Real Madrid, as they turn their focus to Club Brugge in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 3-1 to reclaim second place

Erling Haaland returned to scoring form with a decisive brace as Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 3-1 to reclaim second place in the Premier League and close the gap on leaders Arsenal to six points.

Pep Guardiola’s men were looking to bounce back after last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, a match that saw Haaland fail to score for only the second time this season.

The Norwegian responded emphatically, proving once again why he remains City’s most lethal weapon.
