“You Have Failed Woefully – Resign Now!” – Rapper and Activist Falz Demands President Tinubu’s Immediate Resignation Over Latest School Abduction in Niger State

In a blistering public rebuke that has electrified social media and reignited national fury over Nigeria’s spiraling insecurity, acclaimed rapper, actor, and human rights activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called for the outright resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the harrowing midnight raid on St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.

The brazen attack, which unfolded between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, saw armed bandits storm the boarding school’s hostels, abducting an estimated 32 to 52 pupils, students, teachers, and a security guard who was left critically wounded from gunshot injuries. This incident marks the second mass school kidnapping in less than a week, coming hot on the heels of Monday’s abduction of 25 schoolgirls from a government boarding school in neighboring Kebbi State, where the vice principal was fatally shot. The Niger assault has drawn widespread condemnation from religious bodies, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Diocese of Kontagora, who decried it as a “systematic assault on the innocent” and a direct threat to educational sanctity.

Falz, whose activism has long intertwined with his music career—most notably through his 2018 hit album Moral Instruction and his role in the #EndSARS movement—unleashed his demand via a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), tagging President Tinubu directly: “You have failed woefully @officialABAT. Tender your resignation now!” Accompanying the post was a poignant repost of Tinubu’s own words from November 6, 2014, when, as an opposition leader, he lambasted then-President Goodluck Jonathan for failing to curb terrorism: “You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

The 34-year-old artist, son of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), elaborated in a series of follow-up threads, framing the Niger attack as the tipping point in a litany of security lapses under the Tinubu administration. “From Kebbi to Niger, from churches in Kwara to farms in Benue—our children are not safe in schools, our worshippers are not safe in pews, and our soldiers are dying in the line of duty. This is not governance; this is abdication. President Tinubu, you promised renewal, but all we see is ruin. Step down and let someone who can actually secure Nigeria take the reins,” Falz wrote, amassing over 1.2 million views, 150,000 likes, and thousands of retweets within hours.

Falz’s clarion call echoes a growing chorus of disillusionment amid a surge in banditry and targeted violence, particularly against Christian communities, which has even drawn international scrutiny—including recent remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump labeling Nigeria a “country of particular concern” for religious persecution. The Niger State Government has since blamed the school management for defying an earlier closure order issued due to heightened threat intelligence, vowing a full-scale rescue operation. However, Niger Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that security forces are “combing the forests” for the victims, with no breakthroughs reported as of press time.

The post has sparked a firestorm of support from fellow celebrities, activists, and civil society:

Rapper MI Abaga: “Falz is right. This isn’t politics; it’s a humanitarian crisis. #ResignTinubuNow”

Actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde: “Our kids deserve better. Tinubu, listen to the people you swore to protect.”

#EndSARS Convener Rinu Oduala: “From SARS brutality to banditry boldness—same failure, different faces. Resign!”

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP): “Falz’s voice amplifies the voiceless. We demand accountability and an end to this impunity.”

Falz, who has consistently used his platform—boasting over 2.5 million followers across social media—to champion justice, economic reform, and youth empowerment, concluded his thread with a somber plea: “This is not about party lines or elections. This is about lives—innocent lives—hanging in the balance. Nigeria, we must rise. Demand better. #JusticeForNigerKids #ResignTinubu.”

As rescue efforts intensify and families cling to hope amid mounting despair, Falz’s unyielding stance serves as a stark reminder of the social contract fraying at the edges. The Presidency has yet to respond, but the pressure is palpable: in a nation where over 200 school-related abductions have scarred the landscape since 2014, calls for leadership change are no longer whispers—they are roars.
