Eric Chelle learns key lessons from Zimbabwe victory

The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup semi-final, but for head coach Eric Chelle, the match provided more than just a place in the final.

The encounter at The Valley Stadium gave the Super Eagles boss an opportunity to assess several new players and tactical ideas ahead of future competitions, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Attack shows promise

Nigeria’s attacking performance was one of the biggest positives from the match, particularly the performance of debutant Femi Azeez.

The forward scored twice on his first appearance for the Super Eagles and immediately offered pace, directness and movement in the final third.

Despite praising the winger’s goals, Chelle admitted he still expected more from the player technically.

“He scored two goals, congratulations to him, but also lost a lot of balls technically, so I’m not happy,” Chelle said.

“He won the ball back many times, sometimes he didn’t recover the ball, so I’m not happy. But for the first time, we can say, ‘Azeez, congratulations.’”

Midfield balance still developing

Nigeria’s midfield trio of Tochukwu Nnadi, Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani delivered a disciplined display, helping the team control possession for long periods.

The midfielders also pressed aggressively after losing the ball, limiting Zimbabwe’s opportunities to attack through central areas.

However, the game also exposed a lack of creativity from deeper positions, with Nigeria relying heavily on wing play and direct attacking transitions.

Defensive stability encourages Chelle

At the back, Nigeria produced one of their most organised defensive performances in recent outings.

The central defensive partnership of Chibuike Nwaiwu and Igoh Ogbu remained composed throughout, while debutant goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo impressed with his calmness and shot-stopping ability.

Okonkwo’s confidence provided further evidence that the Super Eagles may finally be developing stronger depth in goal and defence beyond the regular starters.

Overall, the Zimbabwe victory offered Chelle valuable insight into several emerging players as Nigeria continue building towards future international competitions.

In 6 years, I spent N340 million on weed – Ice Prince

Nigerian rapper and singer Ice Prince has opened up about his past smoking habits, revealing the huge amount of money he spent on cannabis before deciding to quit.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the artiste disclosed that between 2020 and 2026, he spent about ₦340 million on weed from a single dealer alone.

He added that the figure did not include purchases from other suppliers located in places such as Abuja, Jos, Ghana, and London.

According to Ice Prince, he eventually stopped smoking and drinking alcohol during a period of personal transformation, weight loss, and self-discovery.

“From 2020 to 2026, I have spent N340 million on weed from just one dealer alone, not to even mention my other dealers from Abuja, Ghana, Jos, and London. This is just one dealer, who lives close to me in Lagos,” he stated.

He explained that the decision was part of efforts to improve his lifestyle and overall wellbeing.

The rapper also revealed that he has remained celibate for a period of time, describing the phase as part of his journey toward discipline and personal growth.

Regina Daniels receives luxurious vehicle from man months after marital crisis with Ned Nwoko

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has reportedly received a brand-new luxury car gift, sparking widespread reactions online after the unexpected gesture.

According to reports circulating on social media, the light-skinned movie star was gifted a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon by an anonymous man from the East, allegedly a governor, who expressed admiration for her lifestyle and influence.

While presenting the car, the unidentified man was heard praising her and explaining why he decided to upgrade her previous vehicle.

“We appreciate your efforts. We checked the recent car you bought, and we found out that there was no GLE, something exceptional, so we decided to provide something unique for you. You’ve done so well so far,” he reportedly said.

The development comes shortly after Regina reportedly shared gifts and notes from a mystery admirer online.

The latest luxury gift has since sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians questioning the identity of the benefactor and the circumstances surrounding the gesture.
