“Brands no longer want influencers” – Phyna breaks silence over viral restaurant video, slams critics

Former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has finally reacted after a viral video circulated on social media showing her allegedly working at a restaurant.

The reality star, who won the Level Up edition of BBNaija, became a trending topic after streamer Davrel filmed her while she was reportedly serving customers at the restaurant as a salesgirl.

In the clip, Phyna appeared uncomfortable about being recorded and questioned why the camera was focused on her.

Reacting to the criticism, Phyna stated that life has changed since her BBNaija win, explaining that she chose to work honestly rather than fake a luxurious lifestyle online.

“What is wrong if I am actually working as a sales girl, as a waiter at a restaurant? Why the bashing online?” she said.

She also revealed that endorsement deals and influencing opportunities are no longer as frequent as before, making it difficult for many former reality stars to maintain the lifestyle fans expect from them.

“Things are no longer as easy as they used to be. What would you have me do when brands no longer want people to influence for them, and maybe I cannot secure a 9-5 job, and even if I can the pay is not okay,” she added.

Her response has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians praising her honesty and humility while others continued to question her situation.

One user wrote, “Honestly, there’s dignity in honest work. Well done, Phyna.” Another added, “This is why many celebrities end up depressed trying to maintain appearances online.”

“Tinubu is pampering me” — Cubana Chief Priest opens up on political support, governorship ambition

Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has stirred reactions online after revealing the level of support and attention he currently enjoys from political associates and influential figures across the country.

Speaking during a trending interview, the celebrity barman said several politicians have continued to stand by him despite criticisms and controversies surrounding his growing involvement in politics.

According to him, some party leaders openly “pamper” him because of his loyalty, influence among young Nigerians, and ability to connect with people.

“They bought me a brand new lexus”
Cubana Chief Priest disclosed that one of his political associates recently reminded him of the expensive gifts and support he had received over time.

“Man of the parties is pampering me. They are like, oh, CP, he accommodates you, so it’s working in my favor. One of my chairmen called me today and said, ‘CP, are you okay?’ I told him I’m trying. He said no worry. He reminded me that he bought a brand new Lexus LX 700h for me. He said, ‘You’re my honorable for life,’” he said.

The nightlife entrepreneur added that despite the support he receives, there are still doubts about his political loyalty in some quarters.

“Maybe God wants me to be Governor”
According to him, critics trolling him online cannot discourage his ambitions or confidence.

“I’ll never give up even if I lose again. All these people wey dey troll me for IG and Twitter, I checked their pages and none of them get G-Wagon. How will I be sad over what poor men are saying? Maybe God wants me to be the Governor,” he stated.

Cubana Chief Priest also claimed that some persons close to President Bola Tinubu allegedly still do not fully trust him because he is Igbo and once worked for Peter Obi during the 2023 election season.

Arsenal crowned Premier League champions after Man City stumble at Bournemouth

Arsenal FC have officially won the Premier League title after Manchester City were held to a draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result ends Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the league crown and confirms Mikel Arteta has delivered the club’s first Premier League triumph since the famous Invincibles era.

City’s dropped points leave Arsenal four clear at the top heading into the final round of fixtures, with the Gunners now set to lift the trophy following their trip to Crystal Palace FC on Sunday.

Bournemouth frustrate Guardiola’s side

The match was dominated by speculation surrounding the future of City manager Pep Guardiola, amid reports suggesting he could leave the club at the end of the season.

While Guardiola insisted the rumours had no effect on his players, Bournemouth produced one of their strongest performances of the campaign to frustrate the defending champions.

Teenage forward Junior Kroupi gave the hosts the lead before half-time with a composed curling finish after Bournemouth repeatedly exposed City defensively.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic also delivered a crucial second-half save to deny Nico O’Reilly as the hosts protected their advantage.

Haaland strike not enough for City

Erling Haaland eventually rescued a point for City with a late equaliser, but Bournemouth held firm to secure a famous result.

The draw also guarantees European football for Bournemouth next season in what will be the final campaign under manager Andoni Iraola, who has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.

Arteta finally delivers long-awaited title

For Arsenal, the result completes a remarkable rise under Arteta after several near-misses in recent seasons.

The North London club have combined attacking consistency with defensive discipline throughout the campaign and now enter the final weekend as deserved champions of English football.

Chelsea push Tottenham closer to relegation trouble after Stamford Bridge defeat

Chelsea kept their European qualification hopes alive and pushed Tottenham Hotspur deeper into relegation danger with a dramatic 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos secured the win for Chelsea, while Tottenham’s survival fight now heads into the final day of the Premier League season.

The defeat extended Spurs’ miserable record at Stamford Bridge, where they have won just once in 41 league visits.

Chelsea stay alive in European race

Despite recent struggles, including defeat in the FA Cup final, Chelsea produced one of their more composed performances under interim boss Calum McFarlane.

The result keeps the Blues mathematically alive in the race for European football ahead of incoming manager Xabi Alonso taking charge this summer.

Chelsea started nervously, with Tottenham threatening early through Mathys Tel and Jorrel Hato.

However, Fernandez broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a powerful long-range strike that beat goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The Argentine midfielder nearly doubled the advantage later in the half when his free-kick crashed against the crossbar.

Santos goal leaves Spurs in danger

Tottenham improved little after the break and were punished again in the second half.

A misplaced pass from Randal Kolo Muani allowed Cole Palmer to launch a quick attack before Pedro Neto provided the assist for Santos to calmly finish.

The second goal looked to have ended Spurs’ resistance before substitute Richarlison pulled one back late on after a fortunate deflection from Pape Sarr.

Tottenham pushed forward desperately in the closing stages, with James Maddison going close to an equaliser, but Chelsea held firm.

Final-day survival battle awaits Tottenham

The result means Tottenham’s relegation battle will now be decided on the final day of the campaign.

West Ham United remain within touching distance despite their recent poor form, leaving Spurs needing a positive result against Everton to secure survival.

“How can you send a child to prison for two years over few Twitter lines?” — Sowore blasts Adekunle Gold

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised singer Adekunle Gold over the reported imprisonment of a social media user accused of making false claims online about the musician and his family.

Speaking during an interview that has gone viral on social media, Sowore questioned why Adekunle Gold and his wife, singer Simi, pursued legal action that resulted in a young man spending over two years in prison over comments made on X, formerly Twitter.

“That’s not how to handle false stories”

Sowore argued that public figures should learn to ignore false rumours rather than using law enforcement to punish critics or online commentators.

“How dare Adekunle Gold, after getting some little money and fame, send somebody to jail for two years for writing something we all know is not true? Yesterday people were calling me that my wife and children had died in the US. I simply called them to confirm they were alive and moved on,” he said.

The activist also referenced past incidents involving public figures, including former US President Donald Trump’s family and a Kaduna-based religious leader declared dead during the COVID-19 period.

“Nigerians love oppression too much”

According to Sowore, the situation reflects a growing culture of oppression among influential Nigerians.

“How can you sit down with police and prosecutors to jail someone for two and a half years because of three lines on Twitter? Nigerians complain about oppression until they get small power, then they become worse,” he added.

The controversy comes amid increasing debates in Nigeria over cybercrime laws, online speech, and the arrest of social media users for controversial posts.
